Beyond the Basics

Learn how to make pattern bars, create layered imagery with powders & frit, fuse glass in fewer steps and strip building construction techniques in this two day workshop at Hollander Fusing Center in Atlanta.
With help from the Morton Portable Glass Shop, we will cut strips of glass to layer in dams to create thick, multi-colored glass slabs that will be fired and then cut on the saw to incorporate into your final project. Different damming methods and pattern bar set-ups will be discussed.
Learn to create imagery, abstract design and patterns with crisp lines using No Days newest fusing adhesive and glass powders. You will learn techniques for taming frit and designing with greater control and fewer firings.

Fused Glass Sun Catchers for Kids and Parents - This is a perfect class for kids to make a personalized gift, or just to learn to (carefully) play with glass while spending some quality time with mom or dad. We will create and then assemble one or two beautiful suncatchers. Sun catchers will be ready for pick up 3-5 days after the first session. You will receive instructions and materials for assembling your suncatcher. Duration: One session of 2 hours. Class fee: $45 for one child and one adult (includes materials for sun catchers and assembly, and firing)

Dichroic Fused Glass Jewelry at the LUX - Have you ever wanted to learn how to make glass pendants, slide beads, and bracelets? In this class, you will explore dichroic glass, basic wire-wrapping, glass paints and decals. You will walk away with pendants, earrings, a necklace and a bracelet you have made. All levels welcome.

No Days Mosaic Stepping Stone - Make a colorful addition to your garden or yard in just three hours! In this class, learn how to quickly cut geometric pieces of glass with the Morton System and make an instant stepping stone with a new heat set adhesive that will allow you to grout your stone at the end of the session. Take home your finished stepping stone the same day you create it!
Duration: One session of 3 hours.

Dichroic Tile for Jewelry - Learn how to layer dichroic glass to create unique dichroic jewelry. In class, we will stack dichroic glass to create a layered tile for making jewelry. After assembling your tile with assorted dichroic glass, you will learn techniques for the application of decals and applying bails. Please wear close toed shoes. No glass experience necessary! Upcoming classes: Third Thursdays from 6-8pm at Architectural Glass Arts. |

Family Glass Class - Come in and play with glass together as a family! You’ll learn how to safely handle and cut glass. Two to four family members will collaborate to create two fused glass windchimes. Windchimes will be ready for pick up 5-7 days after the first session. You will receive instructions and materials for assembling your windchimes. Duration: One session of 2-1/2 hours. |

Intro to Glass Fusing & Slumping - You can design and create a glass sun catcher, jewelry or magnet pieces and tiles using fused glass. Glass fusing is done by stacking glass pieces, powders or "beads" and melting them together in a kiln. Slumping is a similar process that creates larger pieces such as bowls or plates. All levels welcome. |

Kiln Casting Class - In this introductory kiln casting class, we will learn the steps in making a sculptural art glass piece using a one time use plaster mold to create a unique sculpture in clear glass. We start by building a clay sculpture positive, constructing a mold box around it, then pouring a plaster mold and filling it with glass to melt in the kiln. Bring several ideas/images that you may want to sculpt. Please wear close toed shoes. Four 3 hour sessions. |

Soldered Pendant and Jewelry - Learn to make personalized, decorative, keepsake lead-free soldered glass jewelry pendants in this afternoon class. Students will encase an image or decorative paper in glass utilizing the stained glass copper foil technique. We will experiment with adding decorative wirework, and Swarovski crystal dangles to dress up the pendant. Time permitting, there will be individual project time for utilizing the techniques learned to create multiple pendants or matching earrings. Duration: 3 hours.

Quilting with Fused Glass - Refine your glass cutting skills and learn to master the Morton Board Cutting System in this class where you will create four 4" quilt block tiles, which you can fire separately as coasters, or combine to make an 8" x 8" quilt plate. Class meets for (3) three hour sessions. We will also explore adding "stitching" to glass using paints and creating patterned glass with glass powders and paints. (includes use of tools, materials and firing) Please wear close toed shoes. No glass experience necessary! |

Layered Fused Glass Painting/Sculpture -
In this class, we will create a three dimensional glass "painting" using fusible glass, powders, stringers, and enamel paints. Then, we will fuse the layered image into a block sculpture. Bring images and ideas to first class. Four sessions of 2-1/2 hours.

Mosaic Garden Stepping Stone - Learn to make colorful stepping stones for your garden or yard by using stained glass scrap. Choose your pattern, shape and size of the brick you would like to create. We'll discuss pattern making, glass cutting and mold prep. Then, we'll mix cement and pour your stone. Duration: 3 sessions of 3 hours. |
